Marstrand is a gem of the Gothenburg archipelago, a small township dating back to the turn of the 20th century. It’s situated about 35 kilometres directly west of Kungälv and about 45 minutes from Gothenburg by car.
The town itself is free of cars and the cobbled streets meander past beautiful, light houses and gardens from the turn of the 20th century.
On top sits Carlsten Fortress, a well-preserved, majestic and exciting location offering a fantastic view of the island.
In Marstrand, you will find a lively pub and restaurant scene, culture and tranquillity, depending on when you visit the island. Historically, Marstrand was a central hub in Scandinavia, situated along the highway of the times – the sea. Today, it is a magical place that has to be experienced.
